The event was also attended by reporters from the Chronicle.lu portal; Ali Sahib. Most importantly, every visitor can now see our systems up close: photovoltaic panels, energy storage systems, EV charging stations, and thermal modernization solutions, including heat pumps, insulation, and facade modernization. We’ve prepared mock-ups and cross-sections to make it easier to compare the quality and differences between technologies—modules, inverters, and energy storage systems—and immediately understand how it all works together in your home. Brands you can encounter in our space include: SolarEdge, Huawei, SolarCells, Jinko, Buderus, Breeze, Sigenergy, Emultimax, Rehau, Schuco, Veka, Rockwool, Isover, and Panasonic.

Two-story and terraced houses usually perform better than sprawling single-story or detached houses with a fragmented form.

2) Thermal Enclosure and Airtightness

Design building envelopes with uniform, high insulation (low U-value) and analyze thermal bridges. Maximize the glazing ratio relative to the frame, maintain a high g-value (for winter gains) and provide shade in summer.

4) Construction and Thermal Mass

Choosing the technology (masonry, prefabricated, wood) to meet the insulation, airtightness, and heat storage requirements. Each has advantages and disadvantages; every detail counts.

5) Renewable Energy Sources (RES)

PV to power appliances and cover part of the heating/cooling demand.

Heat pumps (air, ground, exhaust air) as a high-efficiency source.

Solar thermal energy for domestic hot water/heating support.

Automation and energy storage – higher self-consumption and stability.

6) Comfort Ventilation System

In airtight buildings, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery minimizes losses and improves air quality; it is essential for constant, controlled air exchange.

Not everyone knows that good-quality windows can make a big difference when it comes to blocking outside noise. In other words, windows are more than just frames and glass. With the right design, like special glass and tight seals, you can reduce unwanted sounds by dozens of decibels. For example, laminated glass with an acoustic layer can act like a shield for your home. If outside noise is getting in through weak spots or gaps, your comfort drops quickly. So, investing in better windows means investing in peace of mind.

Now that you know windows can help protect you from outside noise, it is time to take action. In this situation, your choice should not be random. There are many types of windows on the market, each with different features and construction. Not every PVC window will be as effective as a wood or wood-aluminium one. After that, it makes sense to follow a simple and logical decision-making process. To help with that, let us guide you through five key steps.

The first step in choosing the right windows is asking yourself what you really expect from them. Think about whether your top priority is peace and quiet, keeping your home warm or improving the look of your house. After all, different windows solve different problems. If you live near a busy street, noise reduction should be at the top of your list. If your house is energy-efficient, then you cannot ignore the thermal insulation rating, also known as Uw.

For families with children, safety might be just as important. In this case, look for RC-rated security glass and child-safe handles. Many people also care about how windows look, and that is completely understandable. The shape, colour and style of your windows often define the entire look of your home. Altogether, setting your priorities early will help you avoid confusion later when comparing offers. It will also make talking to a window expert or architect much easier. To emphasize, asking the right questions from the start can save you a lot of stress in the end.

There are several types of windows available, and they differ not only in appearance but also in how they perform. First, the most common option is PVC windows. They offer good insulation and come at a budget-friendly price. In addition, they are lightweight, easy to clean and available in a wide range of colours. However, not everyone likes their plastic frames. If you prefer a more natural style, wooden windows might be a better fit, although they do require regular care.

Still, wood is a great insulator when it comes to both heat and noise. Aluminium, on the other hand, is a top choice for fans of modern design, especially when you want large glass areas with slim frames. It is often used in contemporary architecture where durability and minimalism are key. It is also worth considering hybrid windows, such as wood-aluminium models. Accordingly, they combine the warmth and beauty of wood on the inside with the weather resistance of aluminium on the outside. Each material has its strengths and weaknesses, and it is important to evaluate them based on your specific needs. To that end, the best solution is one that balances function and design – there is no need to choose between the two.

The technical features of your windows play a key role, especially if silence and warmth are important to you. For instance, the Rw value tells you how well a window blocks outside noise. The higher the number, the better the sound insulation inside your home. On the other hand, the Uw rating shows how much heat escapes through the window. The lower the Uw, the more energy-efficient your home will be. As a result, a good window helps you enjoy both quiet and lower energy bills. It really pays off to choose models that offer both benefits. After all, home comfort starts with silence and warmth.

Besides Rw and Uw, there are other important values to consider, such as water resistance and air permeability. For example, class 9A means your window offers high protection against wind and rain. You should also check its burglary resistance level – RC2 is a solid minimum for most homes. These technical specs are not just theory. In reality, they show how well the window will perform once installed. To sum up, read the technical data carefully. It tells you what you can truly expect from your windows.

The number of glass panes has a direct impact on both heat and sound insulation. Generally, triple-glazed windows offer much better protection than double-glazed ones. That is why it often makes sense to spend a bit more, especially if you live in a noisy area. For this reason, a triple-glazed unit filled with noble gas between the panes usually works best. It helps keep noise and heat loss to a minimum. In short, it is an investment that pays off quickly by giving you more comfort every day.

Modern glazing can also offer extra features such as acoustic films or solar coatings. Not only do they help reduce noise, but they also add safety to your home. Frosted or patterned glass is great for maintaining privacy in bathrooms. Tinted glass can prevent rooms from overheating on sunny days. All in all, glazing is not just about how the window looks, it also affects how it works. In brief, good glass works quietly in the background to make your life more comfortable.

Choosing the right window is only half the job. In other words, even the best window will not perform well if it is installed incorrectly. Poor installation can let in cold air, moisture and noise. Consequently, the window will lose its thermal and acoustic properties. For that reason, it is important to hire a skilled team that knows how to use layered installation methods. This technique involves using different sealing tapes on the inside and outside, with each one serving a specific purpose. To be sure, simply filling the gap with foam is no longer enough. A professional installation protects not only your comfort but also the long-term durability of your windows.

Many people choose windows on impulse, for example because of a sale, an ad or simply because they like how they look. After all, who does not like beautiful things? But in reality, the technical details matter most. A common mistake is focusing only on the price. Cheaper windows often provide worse thermal and sound insulation. As a result, they can end up costing you more in the long run. Others forget to check quality certificates or choose products without a warranty. In this case, you risk faster wear and no support if something goes wrong. All things considered, it is better to stay calm, ask questions and make a well-thought-out decision.

Another common mistake is not thinking about where and how the windows will actually be used. For example, the right window for a busy city street is not the same as one for a quiet village. Noisy locations require better acoustic glass with a higher Rw rating. Homes in windy areas need stronger seals and durable hardware. That is why it is always worth analysing your building’s surroundings. To conclude, you should choose your windows based not only on the room they are in, but also on the environment outside.

That’s when fans and air conditioners kick in – or you’re simply left to endure the discomfort. But with the right insulation layer – especially in the roof and external walls – the heat transfer is limited, keeping interiors cooler and thermally stable.

Insulation also improves the indoor microclimate – the air isn’t too dry or too humid, and it’s easier to maintain an optimal temperature and airflow. Homeowners can receive up to 62.5% reimbursement of costs related to insulation work on roofs, external walls, floors, as well as window and door replacements. The program offers even higher support for eco-friendly materials and for buildings that achieve low energy consumption after renovation.

Additionally, there are climate loans – government-supported financing solutions for energy upgrades.
Although the idea of applying for financial support may seem complicated, the process is actually well-structured – as long as you know the necessary steps and have the right support. That’s why working with an experienced partner like Voltmax makes the entire journey much simpler – from the initial consultation to the final grant payout.

The process begins with a professional energy audit. A certified expert evaluates the technical condition of the building, identifies the areas with the greatest heat loss, and recommends specific actions. At this stage, the so-called technical documentation is also prepared – it serves as the foundation for applying for support from programs such as Klimabonus.

Based on the audit, a formal application for a conditional agreement (agreement-in-principle) is submitted. This agreement is a required step under the Klimabonus program – it confirms that the planned renovation meets the funding criteria and is a prerequisite for claiming reimbursement later on.

It is important to note that this agreement does not replace any necessary building permits or declarations required by local municipalities. These are two separate procedures – one deals with building regulations, the other with funding approval. Voltmax supports clients with both aspects, helping to prepare all documents required by local authorities when needed.

At this stage, accurate documentation is key. The application must include audit results, the planned scope of work, technical details, and a cost estimate. Voltmax assists clients throughout the entire process – from paperwork to communication with institutions.

Once approval is granted, the renovation work begins. Voltmax carries out the full scope of work – from wall, roof, ceiling, and floor insulation to window and door replacements, and installation of mechanical ventilation systems. Throughout the process, the company ensures full compliance with technical standards required by the grant authorities.

After the work is completed, a final grant application is submitted. This includes invoices, photos, proof of completion, and a report on the project. Voltmax prepares the entire closing documentation, so clients don’t have to handle the paperwork on their own.

Finally, once the application is verified and approved by the authorities, the funds are transferred directly to the client’s bank account. The subsidy can cover up to 62.5% of eligible costs, depending on the type of renovation, materials used, and additional criteria – for example, bonuses for using ecological materials.

Many homes built before modern insulation standards lose heat through walls, roofs, windows, and even floors.

In some cases, more than half of the heating energy escapes through the building envelope. This doesn’t just make homes colder in winter and hotter in summer — it also drives up energy bills.

Heat loss also increases your home’s environmental footprint. What’s more, many homeowners don’t realise how much energy they’re losing until they look closely at their usage.

Thermal imaging and energy audits are great tools to find the weak spots. Once identified, you can take focused action — starting with insulation and sealing.

Fixing heat loss in older buildings isn’t just about comfort. On the contrary, it’s the foundation of any successful energy renovation.
Proper insulation is one of the most effective ways to stop heat loss and reduce energy use. In particular, this is true in Luxembourg’s varied climate.

Without good insulation, even the most advanced heating system will struggle to keep your home warm in winter or cool in summer. Walls, roofs, and floors are the most common areas where heat escapes. As a result, upgrading their insulation can lead to noticeable energy savings.

External wall insulation can cut heat loss by up to 25%. Roof insulation alone can prevent up to 30% of thermal energy from escaping.

Floor insulation — especially above garages or unheated cellars — adds extra protection and comfort. Altogether, these improvements deliver the best results. Fortunately, Luxembourg offers strong financial support for such projects. National and local subsidies cover a large part of the cost.

What’s more, with efficient materials and clear energy standards, professional insulation is now a reliable way to save energy and reduce your bills.

Old windows and inefficient heating systems are major obstacles to a truly energy-efficient home. In many Luxembourgish buildings — especially older ones — single-glazed or poorly sealed windows let valuable heat escape.

Outdated boilers and electric radiators also waste energy without providing consistent comfort. Replacing windows with double or triple-glazed models and insulated frames helps keep the heat in and the cold out.

These thermal modernisation upgrades also improve soundproofing and indoor comfort year-round. Moreover, switching to high-efficiency systems, like air-to-water or geothermal heat pumps, can cut energy use by up to 50%.

The cost may seem high at first. However, Luxembourg’s financial support schemes make these upgrades more affordable. In fact, when done together, window and heating system upgrades can unlock extra bonuses through national renovation programs.

Most importantly, they help your home stay efficient and reduce its environmental impact.

To put it another way, installing photovoltaic (PV) panels lets you generate clean electricity and lower your energy bills.

Solar energy is especially attractive in Luxembourg, where the government offers generous incentives. Modern solar panels are efficient, long-lasting, and adaptable to most roof types and building sizes.

As a matter of fact, by producing electricity at home, you not only save money — you also protect yourself from future energy price hikes.
